| 殺人事件に絡む若い男女の悲劇。バーガーは殺された恋人の復讐をする青年に扮した。 ジュリアーノ・ジェンマを育てたテッサリ監督の作品。 Originally I didn't know anything about this film - and then I read a couple of good reviews which had been posted on imdb.com and so my curiosity was aroused. I enjoyed the film. It's final twist was really brilliant , it made me rethink everything i'd seen prior to it. I had assumed that Giorgio was the killer of all three women . Instead it becomes apparent that this isn't true. We learn how his actions have been motivated by the murder of the first girl who was his one true love. This revelation is very sad, he had to endure the horror of seeing her killed in front of his own eyes. After this he was driven by the need to avenge her death, a desire which torments him - as he is not a evil person. Because the film is very plot driven there is not a lot of time to develop character - so Helmut Berger doesn't have many scenes in which to create a complex and sympathetic person. His acting is very good as he is able to suggest Giorgio's disturbed state of mind, his disaffection with his parents and the trauma he is suffering. The final scene is very powerful and the ending downbeat. I thought the film was well directed, the plot kept you guessing and the movie was actually quite pessimistic in it's view of human nature. The music score was moody and lush it added to the films atmosphere and the dubbing into english was also good . I liked the running joke about the coffee which is always too sweet, sour or just plain cold. I found this movie entertaining, well made,incisive and UNPREDICTABLE. Feb 2003 Dorian Leveque
